The portal is nothing. The player had every right to transfer 30 years ago just like he does now. The "portal" is just coming out and announcing to the world "I'm interested in transferring." Quite sure kids could get the message out to all interested parties with today's technology/media just fine. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong. The only difference is more kids want to transfer now more than ever. And the NCAA is waiving the sit out a year rule much more frequently. Their rulings have been inconsistent and selfserving in my opinion, however.
