It's not just about competing with Clemson and Bama. We're not even competing with middle of the pack SEC, ACC or Big Ten teams on facilities.

247 Sports does football facility ratings every year. Here are some of the teams ranked in the top 25 for facilities over the last two years:
Kansas
Nebraska
FL State
Northwestern
South Carolina
Miami
Oklahoma State
Tennessee
North Carolina
Kentucky

The upgrades that have been done at VT only cover a small part of the football facilities.
