We're going to end up firing Fuente, and that's ok

I was looking at some stats. We are 15th in all time wins, 23rd in winning percentage. Now, a lot of this was buoyed by the Beamer years, no doubt about it, but you don't get to 15th in all time wins and 23rd in winning pct off of one coach, no matter how legendary he may be. The point is this: up until 1993, I don't think VT was as atrocious at football as we like to joke that we were, and I also think we underachieved, likewise 1999 was an overachieving year. VT's homeostasis is a 9-3 sort of year where we win the Coastal 5-6 times over a 10 year period. I think the Fuente era is going to be a dark time for us, but it's really an aberration. I see a lot of folks saying that 6-7 is the type of program VT truly is, and we've just overachieved. My thinking is that we just have the wrong coach at the wrong time. Fuente is young and he'll make a great coordinator for Oklahoma or something, and maybe he'll work his way back up to a head coaching role some day. Likewise, I think VT is in a good position to get a great coach post-Fuente: can't ignore 15th in all time wins, and 23rd in winning percentage ---> no doubt about it, we're a Top 25 program, but we're just in a slump.
