BB used to be my first love but then, at the apex of the Beamer years, VT was a national player and our BB programs took a nose dive. Things have changed. Today, there are only 4 - 5 college football programs that have any chance of a national title. It takes more money and more fans than VT can produce. It takes layered depth...a luxury we have never had. In basketball, success at the national level takes 3 - 4 good players in a good scheme with a good coach. VT can do all of those things.
