Fuente is also a high character guy who seems to be very adamant about only having high character players. Not surprisingly, that is not an easy sell with the type of recruits that VT lived off of during the end of Beamer's tenure. Nor does it inspire the warm fuzzies in those type of guys after they've left the program.

I still believe in Fuente's approach and ultimately believe it will pay off. But we are still in a transition period and a growing number of fans seem to believe that the only way we can return to glory is to again cater to the knuckleheads. I just hope Fuente will be allowed to see this experiment through, because it's going to take a few more years to fully change the culture.
