But the head trauma data is compelling. There are several former NFL players who have elementary age kids in our sons' school. Every one of them is steering their sons away from playing football and toward other sports (soccer, LAX, basketball, etc.).

The compelling research on CTE was just published last year. There will be a lag between the research, the social impact, and, ultimately, the downstream effect on HS, college, and professional football.

The CTE research suggests that a kid who plays full-contact football at age 12 has a dramatically higher likelihood of CTE, regardless of how long he plays. That'll either push kids into other sports or delay entry into the sport until late middle school, IMO. Again, this won't happen over night and it won't happen everywhere -- but the impact is coming.
