That's just an extension/expansion of something I experienced ...

... back in my high school days. I've told this story before: back in the early 80s, the home console didn't exist, so we all went to arcades to play stand-up versions of our favorite games. My game was Centipede, and I was one of the top 2-5 players in Charlottesville. There were times where I'd play Centipede, and a handful of people would watch, and ooh and aah and twist around watching me do my thing.

I used to imagine the game I was playing being broadcast on TV, and people watching. So I'm not the least bit surprised it's happening now. People who do a thing like to watch others who are the best in the world at it.

My story isn't unusual: the best players at Missile Command, Pac Man, Asteroids, etc. used to have people stand and watch them play. There was a guy who played a Black Knight pinball machine who could play forever. People would watch him, but that was kinda boring.😆
