By Fuentes tenure, we should have had the recruiting bandwidth to transition. But it hasn’t happened. I’m not an expert on the Xs/Os but Buds Gap D also requires Gap shooting DTs, not block eaters so LBs pick up the tackles. This is who we are and have been for 25 years. And it’s not good for NFL caliber players on the DL.
My guess is that Bud has 2-3 more years in him and JHam takes over. But that’s just more of the same system. Is that good or bad? The answer may be in how Buds D plays this year.
