This day in age not everything is cut and dry

Questions that have to be asked and answered:

Did he have interest in us? True interest.
Did we have interest in him? 5* so I would assume so.
Does he fit our scheme?
What did he want to major in, did we have that major?
Did he want to play immediately or RS?

The days of protecting your state are gone, every coach now has access to every player's highlights with vast staffs to go through that "tape" and decide who to offer. On top of that there is a system coaches at each school can log into and see who has been offered by which school and when.

Lastly, and probably most importantly, MONEY. PSU would laugh at our budget, VT $91 million vs PSU $138 million, in 2017 VT spent $1.4 million on recruiting, PSU $2.5. The distance between the haves and have nots are increasing and not decreasing. VT is somewhere in the middle treading water. Not increasing but not losing as much ground as say Wake Forest or ECU.

Extra $47 million a year makes a huge difference. Why you will see me harp on our alumni (no one in particular) who continue to have this show me something for my money when every other blue blood just "donates" blindly or at least has enough donors when several hundred get mad it doesn't hit their bottom line. PSU has basically played second fiddle to Ohio State and Michigan yet alumni keep pumping money in.
