I hear ya..but.....

The school rankings are based upon actual commitments. Presumably most of the coaches have already done the film review sufficiently to allow the commitment.

I also agree that there is a long way to go but clearly the results so far are lackluster. If we end up with 15 commits at about our current average star rating, we will end up about 70th at least using last year’s number as a gauge. If the avg star rating goes up a full point with 15 commits, we end up around 60th. If you ranked solely based on avg star rating, we would be about 55th. It’s all well and good that we will have a small class but if that’s the case we better be laser focused on quality and positions of need. Not seeing that so far.

BtwI also recall that in June the last few years, we were light years ahead in terms of class building. Could be wrong.

As for rankings generally, I have to think that first of all they are a rough predictor of success on the field when considered over 3-4 years. As for this year, I have to think that rankings are of interest to recruits. Further, I could see other coaches using that as negative recruiting..”If you want to see what Fuente is building, just look at his class” and those type of comments.

Anyway, I agree the time for real evaluation is in December and January. But if I see a dark sky, I have to be concerned about rain.
