I don’t think our d-line is improved from last year. That’s obviously been the biggest question mark of the program, and while we “threw bodies” at the position, just having bodies ain’t enough, IMHO. Expecting first year guys to come in and be impactful at DL is not realistic IMO. Right now our hopes are riding on Hewitt, who would be a backup at most schools?

Linebackers, sure, let’s assume they get better. (No Xavier Adibi or Vince hall type talent though)

And DB is a massive question mark (again, no studs like a Macho Harris, Jayron Hosley, Jimmy Williams, Aaron Rouse, Roc Carmichael, Fuller etc). The fact that people are trying to rely on a guy that tore his Achilles on each side as one of the starters shows you how bad of shape we are at corner, IMHO. IF Webb can make any impact during his time at VT I will salute him because I don’t underestimate the severity of an Achilles injury. Nobody should. Can be a life changing injury for any athlete. And he had it happen twice within 6 months! He seems to being staying positive so that is good on him. Most folk would throw in the towel.

I just don’t see anyone that is gonna strip sack a QB for a fumble scoop and score, I see no cornerbacks that force the offense to only throw to one side of the field. And I see no athletic linebackers that can cover backs in the flat or jump over offensive linemen to sack the QB!

Who is that guy on our defense??? Who do teams fear on our defense? Who on our defense is the opposing coach game planning around?

Is the Foster era of junkyard dogs over? I’m afraid it might be...

The closer we get to BC the more worried I get about stopping their running game.
