Kickoffs

I'm betting Brian Johnson on kick-offs. Based upon last year, Johnson doesn't appear to have the distance for touchbacks, but maybe they change strategy this year and target the 1 yard line. Plenty of teams are doing that deliberately.

There is kid on the roster (Caleb Quick) who redshirted in 2018. There isn't very much recruiting info about him out there, but looking at the Maxpreps and Kohl's Kicking web sites, it looks like he had a pretty high touchback percentage in high school. ESPN had him ranked as the #27 kicker coming out of high school. He's probably the backup this year for field goal, kickoff and punting. I think he took punts and a field goal in the spring game. If Johnson doesn't perform well in early games, maybe we see a change at FG.

There is at least 1 high 2019 high school kid coming in. Unless that kid is incredible, I think the coaches go with the experience and strength/conditioning of Johnson. If you aren't kicking touchbacks, your kicker is also functioning as a safety. :)

There is also still time to bring in a transfer, although it doesn't look like they have a scholarship so that would probably have to be a transfer who doesn't want or need a scholarship. I'm not sure who would want to do that.
