Although, there may have been things going on behind the scenes that may have "encouraged" him to get out now before things get worse and the seat gets hot. Remember "he was 77-82 with the Demon Deacons and shares the program record for coaching victories with D.C. "Peahead" Walker." Also, I found this quote by him interesting, "I just really feel right now, it's probably good for the program to have some new energy, some new direction" especially when you consider Grobe went 4-8 his final season at Wake.

I do find it interesting that he came out of retirement to be the HC at Baylor for only 1 season (2016). Also, I do feel bad for him because he was the DC for the San Antonio Commanders (AAF) until the league folded on April 2. From all that I have read about him, he seems like he is a class act. Maybe even Huntington's version of Frank Beamer, but with an overall coaching record of 117-121-1.
