KBJ is a smart guy, and he can see there is no advantage to stay at VT.

He will go where he gains something. If NBA or Europe, he gains a nice paycheck. If a carefully selected college with the right system and players surrounding him, he might, and might is not guaranteed, slightly improve his professional value. My opinion...going to any college is risky. Staying at VT is of no benefit to his future. A rebuild will not help his future.
