For a better opportunity. He didn’t quit out of frustration or temper tantrum and he certainly didn’t badmouth the school on his way out the door or ever. It was a business decision & that’s why coaches negotiate contracts which include bonus’s and yes, buyouts. Each party to the contract accepts the terms up front before signing it. Fuente didn’t badmouth every player that enters the portal. He simply pointed out that there are pro’s & cons to the new system. Nobody yet knows how ultimately it will effect the system. It looks like it will be a positive but there isn’t anything wrong with pointing out some potential down sides to it as well. That’s what good coaches do. He’s basically saying it’s ok if players leave. Just make sure you’re doing it for the right reason & go about it correctly.
