Virginia Tech football overachieved between 1995 and 2011

The goal through that entire period getting full conference membership, and later, ACC membership and to win championships along the way. That was achieved, with Big East and later ACC membership. That was accomplished, winning a fist and half of championships along the way.

But you are correct, the landscape has changed. The focus now is on building a competitive all sports program. That means increasing revenue.

I think football now has to look at Clemson and say how do we mimic their success. Tech has invested heavily in football, and we have to stay the course.

But now, Virginia Tech is bigger and better in every regard. I think now, Virginia strives to be an Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State, Michigan caliber program. That's developing a nationally prominent academic and athletic program. Tech football is our first love, but there is much more to do.
