Granted I'm getting tired of making these arguments and ready to drop it. But one more time...how many of you just roll over and let someone have their way with you? Apparently alot. Sure Buzz did a great job here. He built up the team (not program) and got us to S16. As he prepared to ride the peak he was already checked out and putting his efforts into A&M. So again, while he was on the VT payroll making millions -off our donations I might add- he is setting up shop at a competitor and doing everything to undermine the future of the VT program. Hell he sent an assistant there and clearly tried to steer recruits and players there. And NO this is not what other coaches do. Basically unprecedented. Other coaches shift into that mode AFTER they get hired for a new job. AFTER not BEFORE. Just like when Buzz came to VT. This doesn't wash anywhere else in the world. A lawyer does not spend a year sending clients and his best paralegal and associates to the firm he plans to join in a year while he works his last big case. The CEO of a company does not bank millions while he spends a year directing resources and talent to the competitor he plans to join. Do you know what the repercussions of that would be. And unlike the shareholders here, those shareholders would not be saying ahh its ok, he did a good job here and because we had a good prior year, its ok our stock is about to plummet .. Or he just needs to take care of his family....Or he just wanted to go home. How warm and fuzzy.
What Buzz did may not be against rules but it certainly doesn't pass the ethics sniff test. The very concept he spends so much energy self promoting. If you guys are ok with that because he got us (correction himself) to the sweet 16 then good on you. Sheep mentality.
Had Buzz taken the job and then started pushing everything to A&M I would have very little problem with it. Doing it for a year on VT payroll is unacceptable. And I can assure you it is to the higher ups and those writing the big checks that Buzz cashed
