The great news is if it doesn't work in four years
you move on. At any point, Tech can absorb Young's salary. Young's a winning coach that has earned the opportunity. But at 2.5 million, this not a salary Tech can't escape.
I agree, it is black and white. In four years, if Young has produced a winner, we move on. we're not faced with a massive buyout. We're also not watching VT be the stepping stone for Duke or Carolina's next head coach.
All that said, Young has challenged good P5 programs with Wofford talent. Give him ACC talent, and I'm confident he'll win.
