Man, I'm really glad people love to live in the past and can see the future

We had a great year this year, one of the best in our program's history. But it came with a price. The way we got there was at the hands of a guy that was high risk/high reward with regard to hiring him. Sure he left for greener pastures and didn't really stock the pantry after his last meal. But be thankful for what he gave us along the way.

Now a very vocal many want to pile on the new coach after a week on the job when we have seen nothing of who he will be in Blacksburg, without him signing anyone, barely announcing coaches, and without coaching a single game. You want all of our problems fixed now and you're mad and just won't take it anymore. Give me a break.

The microwave mentality of this board (and the age we live in) is truly discouraging. It reminds me of our local Charlotte Hornets (what little I pay attention to professional sports outside of sportstalk). They are saddled with bad contracts on marginal players that will put them in a hole for a few years to come. Lots of people that call into the talk shows seem to have figured Mitch Kupchak would step off the plane from LA, make 2-3 trades, sign a free agent, and the team would be out of the mess they are in. However, with where the team was when he took over, he has a 4-6 year rebuild on his hands. I hope MJ is patient to understand where they are and what is required and I hope the same for Mike Young. This will not be a quick fix nor will it be all better by this time next year. But give the guy a chance so we can see what he can do before calling the fight in the middle of the first round when no one else is even in the ring.
