So you believe everything comes down to hard work?

There's no talent or ability differences between people? That's insane.

You're saying a kid is entitled if he spends two years working his ass off as part of the VT football program, comes to the realization that there are other really hard working kids on the team at his position who are also more talented, and decides to transfer to a smaller school where he can earn more playing time.

I'm NOT suggesting there aren't some kids who believe they deserve starting spots without earning it -- those kids obviously exist. I'm saying that just because someone decides to transfer doesn't NECESSARILY mean they are entitled.

The sophomoric notion that every kid that transfer is entitled and afraid of hard work is just so obviously incorrect. In the corporate world, people leave jobs for better situations all the time -- it doesn't make them entitled or afraid of hard work -- it makes them strategic and thoughtful about their own career path.

I assume you think every kid who transferred TO Virginia Tech is entitled and afraid of hard work -- since they all chose to leave their previous programs. I mean, why didn't they just stick it out and, you know, out-work the other kids?

The world is a complex place and attributing a single motive to a large group of people who transfer seems like a bad idea. It seems likely to me that people transfer for a variety of reasons -- playing time, culture fit, scheme fit, a new coach.

I wish I could enjoy the cognitively lighter load of viewing the world in such simplistic terms, but I can't. It just isn't as simple as: Kid transfer from VT = entitled and afraid to work and compete.
