Change

The one thing I have learned in life is that "change is always hard." This is where the Hokie Nation is with Buzz leaving for Texas A & M. I never thought he would be at Tech for a long period of time and I was right about this. He obviously had success and got basketball at Tech back on the map. I am thankful for his contributions and if given the option would have loved for him to remain at Tech. However, he wanted to be "back home in Texas" and he certainly has been blessed with this move. Good for Buzz!!!! Now we have a new era and a new coach at Tech. I have mixed feelings over the new hire; however, I am going to give him a fair shot at this job. I know very little about him but he has been a successful coach so why can't he be successful at Tech? Time will tell but the dust must settle on this change we are experiencing. Many have been critical of Whit and Coach Young. I'm not going to do that because everyone deserves a chance at any job. My advice is for us to calm down and wait to see what unfolds. I don't think great results will occur immediately but as they say "Rome wasn't built in a day." Life will go on and in the ACC we can be successful. I still trust Whit with his decisions and I think we have a great AD working to improve all the athletic programs at Tech. Let's be fair and not so critical until our new coach has a chance to prove himself to the Hokie Nation.
