Buzz found his defensive identity over the course of a week in '18
As in, he didn't have a defensive 'scheme' until we lost to Miami in like January of 2018, and he dreamed up (actually, I think Jamie McNeilly deserves the credit) that 'cover two' scheme as he called it. Obviously the scheme itself (deny the paint, commit hard to help D, whatever it is-I'm not an X&O guy) was nothing new, but the fact is Buzz got the team to 100% buy in over a matter of weeks, and it powered us right to the NCAAT. And Buzz's inbounds plays were a thing a beauty.
Seth similarly came up with defensive wizardry and some nifty transition stuff, not to mention somehow convincing good players to come to Blacksburg. [Post edited by The_Phew at 04/12/2019 2:17PM]
