Seth brought lots of 'new' ideas to VT, as did Buzz. They both beat many teams stacked with superior players, and they didn't do it just by being a good role model or somesuch.

What you say is true for the blue bloods; just hire good assistants and make sure your endless stream of McD All-Americans stay happy. But winning at a place like VT requires 'thinking outside the box'.
