and we don't know how it will turn out for a while but it occurred to me reading another article recently on the hire that it reminds me a little bit of when CFB was hired. Some of you older fans, like myself, may remember that our AD then (Dutch Baughman I think) aggressively pursued highly respected former Maryland Coach Bobby Ross talking and meeting with him several times. The fans, including yours truly as a young man, really wanted Ross. Ross of course turned us down but recommended a former assistant, some guy named Beamer at a 'lower' (D2 back then I think?) level who like Young was not terribly flashy, from SW Va and of course a Tech alumnus. Dutch hired Beamer and a number of fans were for a while disappointed. Well, the rest as they say is history. There ARE reasons to both doubt and like this hire but the decision has been made. Its done. I am going to support CMY and Whit on this pure and simple. Maybe Mike can prove, like Frank did, that nice guys don't have to finish last or even second. By the way I read an article today in which Whit said that he discussed, prior to the hire, recruiting strategy with CMY on "multiple occasions" and is confident Mike knows what he is doing and is a man with the plan.
