Well we all hope that the hire is a slam dunk in the long term but that

throws away the next three years as well. I believe giving a McNeilly or a chew (not just them but an assistant) a chance would of retained more of the current roster (which remains to be seen but not looking good) and also brings an established recruiting connections which don't rely on outside assistants which can be fleeting as we saw with Greenberg and buzz eras. I believe that Mike Young is a wonderful man I really do and I really think it could work for 6 or 7 years from now if we are willing to pay to retain top recruiting staff. The issue becomes we traditionally are not willing or able to pay staff for basketball therefore it makes the head man that much more important. At an Average of 2.4 million and a daily dwindling of excitement I don't see how this can be turned for the better and it sure seems as the admin has gone back to the same old same old back burner basketball tactics. Now to your point maybe more of us should wait and see what admin has planned but I do not see a path where this salvages any of the momentum we gained from the buzz Williams era and I do see a road back to the james Johnson level of basketball. Maybe there is something I am missing as I am no expert but I am tired of the forced acceptance of a hire that a lot of us perceive as accepting an average basketball ceiling or not competing at all. As well, I am tired of hearing that his qualifications which makes this hire okay is that he is from SWVA, he is a good person, And he wont leave us.

As for the piling on of negativity. Most of us have donated this year already and can not voice our opinion in any other form. maybe the negative reaction will influence Admin to see that there is a contingent that would like to compete in basketball on a regular basis and they will get mike young more assistance than they are planning on. Or maybe we are just frustrated that we are going to have to relive the same old same old after 4 years of being relevant again finally... Maybe we don't want to accept that 70 percent of the fan base would be okay with just being a football school. I don't know maybe we should all just shut up and not donate anymore.
