Someone please explain t me why R. Odom is such an terrific pick, if its he

Not trashing him at all; I know he has had a number of 20 win seasons- at a much lower level of competition. His team was not in the big dance this year. Yes his father was a respected coach but that doesn't prove anything other than he is all about basketball. At UMBC he has not won conference championships. He beat UVA but that is one game. If you look at the games UMBC had against P5 type competition he not only lost almost all of them (which may not be surprising given the talent gap) but lost almost all of them badly-by 15-25 points. Yes he knows Tech but for that matter so does JJ, do you want him? Not saying he can't be successful but I sense an Odom regime will require 3-5 years minimum of losing and/or mediocre seasons before turning it around. I have heard he is a very good talent evaluator which is sometimes another way of saying he can't compete for 4star or 5star players but can find good 3star ones. I doubt he can hold on to A. Harris. If its Odom it tells me Whit is trying to save some money in the athletic dept budget. Again, nothing against him and I would hope that everyone supports him but it will be a slow climb back up the hill.
