It is not

up to you to determine qualifications to be a "fan."

I like basketball. Particularly, I like Virginia Tech Basketball. It is, I believe, a University program that, for the most part, has made an effort to be successful being above board. To represent VT.

I don't like shameless, manipulative, maneuvering, individuals such as Buzz Williams who prey upon peoples' beliefs to get what they want.

Take a look at the attached video. This has been posted on this Board and the Subscriber Board. After it was on the Subscriber Board there was a long string of replies from people saying they were "weeping." That they were "in tears." That this was the "very best in all of us." When one person (not me) took exception someone asked "How do you know Buzz even knew it was being recorded?" Oh gee..I don't know....maybe because the exact same background music was used on another video tweeted directly from Williams' account? Maybe because they're staged in a half circle where the camera can get everyone (like a crowded room shot from a bad 1978 rerun of Three's Company)?

When Seth Greenberg was at Long Beach State he took his team to Las Cruces, New Mexico to play New Mexico State. When he took his team into their locker room there was a large message on the grease board that said "Get ready for an ass kicking you Jew Bastard!" Blacksburg is likely more "tolerant" than Las Cruces. But how many times in his life (and in his family's lives) do you think they have heard things such as that (including in the Burg)?

Do you honestly believe, after that, Seth Greenberg would even ALLOW a six minute video of him saying an Amidah to be recorded (even if it was, in his heart, one that asked blessings for his players)? Much less, that he would RETWEET it the way Buzz Williams did his prayer?

Maybe Williams actually holds sincere religious beliefs. Maybe. But what he does with them is not a "Maybe." He uses them to influence, deceive and pander to get what he wants. To "sell soap." To sell himself. He is a shyster. Sell your ability. Sell your results. Don't sell your religion. People decide that for themselves.

College basketball is a business where coaches get paid very well to teach gifted athletes to better throw a ball through a hoop. The athletes get an opportunity. Guys like Buzz, well, hey, they get just about whatever they want.

I never trusted him for one moment. Not one. I am glad he is gone.

Why are you a "fan?"
