In.....
1967 Howie Shannon took VT to the Final 8. Never, ever done before (or since)
Charlie Moir went to two consecutive NCAA Second Rounds. Never, ever done before (or since)
Moir went to 4 NCAAs (and 3 NITs) in 8 years. Never, ever done before or since
Bill Foster's 1995-96 team reached #8 in the A&P Poll. VT's highest ever. Lost in the second round to eventual NCAA Champion Kentucky. Never, ever done before or since
Greenberg played #1 six times. He was 3-3. The three losses were all on the last possession of the game. Never, ever done before or since.
In 8 years of ACC play Greenberg's teams finished 4th four times and third once. Never, ever done before. William's best ACC finish was 5th
Greenberg inherited a team that had had a losing record 6 out of the seven previous years AND THREE conference changes. He had a winning record his first year. Never, ever been done before.
But, hey, Williams beat Liberty in the NCAAs.
Williams was a good coach. He got paid. But he is not the best coach hoops coach here ever (I've been watching for well over 50 years)
