I know there was a lure to Texas for Buzz but there is one fact that cannot

be ignored

The incredible disparity between the athletics finances at the SEC and Big 10 versus the ACC/Big 12/Pac 12 is really beginning to show itself. The SEC has become much more than Kentucky and the rest of them in basketball. The Big 10 had the most teams in the tournament.

Much of this can be traced to the conference network. Every year that the SEC Network or the Big 10 Network has been in place, it has placed almost $20 million extra dollars into the budgets of every SEC and Big 10 school. That will buy you a big time hoops coach from an ACC school with relative ease.

Let's face it, in the revenue battle, Mr. Babcock has been fighting with one hand tied behind his back for a very long time. Finally, in August, that tide will begin to shift back towards better footing once the ACC Network is up and running (and hopefully gains carriage form Comcast and Charter/Spectrum). With the chasm that developed between the SEC/Big 10 and everyone else, the gap may never be closed, but at least it will start to get closer and ACC athletics can bank not only on hoops quality and tradition but also on a better financial playing field.
