Modest improvement over last year, but no massive rebound

The offense will move the ball, but will continue to lack consistent big play explosiveness. No reason to believe the running game will not continue to be ordinary. So probably a very competent, but not championship level type offense (top 50ish). I think it will look a lot like last season.

Defensively will be a little better than last year. We won't lose to ODU again, but Pitt will hammer again for sure, and any other program with a power running game. That kind of thing doesn't get fixed in one off season, and I DON'T CARE who the DC is. Ain't happening. The defense bottomed out to a 30-40 year low, so it could take a couple years to come back from that. Still I expect the defense will definitely "improve', but expectations need to be realistic.

The "yeah, I know there were a bunch of reasons for the defensive collapse, but Bud Foster....." mantra I have no respect for. It's the laziest of takes.
