Wages haven't increased at the same rate as prices for tickets, etc


Everything, especially tickets, has gone up in price since 20 years ago. Tickets have more than doubled in price since 1999. Most folks' pay (if still doing the exact same job) hasn't doubled in that time. The average fan's purchasing power is down in those two decades, hence the greater incentive to stay home and watch on TV or online.
