Given that the university is trying to increase its enrollment

and involved with trying to bring more business to the Roanoke/NRV, I don't think it is unreasonable to see demand for VT football creep up to around 80k (when including current students) especially if the program gets back to being consistently where it was during Beamer's "Glory Years."

I am not opposed to VT having a higher demand than capacity because it will allow VT to increase the price for tickets, donations, and seat license. However, at some point that extra demand will warrant VT expanding Lane. If/When VT reaches that decision, then VT will realize (if it doesn't already) that decisions made by prior administrations (kick the can down the road if you will) additional cost that could have been avoided and lack of space (aka undeveloped land) to give the current administration the flexibility with its expansion plans.

The additional cost I am referring to is bringing everything up to code when VT decides to connect 2 independent structures together. Since Lane was built so close to the practice facility, there may not be enough room to build a NEZ that mirrors the SEZ without taking away land from the practice area. Remember available land needs to be available for both the actual structure, allow people to move around the structure, and to meet all fire/safety codes. Just think of all the open space around the East Stands, West Stands, and SEZ. Now picture 1/2 of the lesser of the 3 and that may be the minimum needed for a NEZ structure. It is just a crude estimate since I am not sure the current VA fire and safety codes are for sporting event structures.
