You're right, Frank never really told you much, but he did open up some scrimmages, publish (and update) an actual depth chart, allow his assistants and players to talk in a relaxed, casual setting with reporters (without coaching them on what to say), etc., etc.

That's the difference in openness between the two men: their systems with dealing with fans and media as a program, not their actual personal communications.
