The number may be low in relative terms when you consider that many of the players in the portal are exiting because they were buried in the depth chart. So there will not be alot of "recruiting" of these players though there is no doubt some being done by lower tier schools that want them. No one is too worried about that.
The real issue is for the marquee players. And to Tombo's point I guarantee you EVERY one of these guys has been in contact with other programs either officially or unofficially. You think Justin Fields or Jalen Hurts or Kelly Bryant didn't talk to anyone. Just did it on whim? Absolutely no way.
