It really is this simple
We had several quality recruits who thought they would be starters at some point in their career. JJ was one early on, and he won. To JJ, he thought he was the one in place for the long haul, and now sees it is not that way. HH seen there was too much depth there, and sought to have the opportunity. How may high star QB's have been recruited at major college programs and never got "their shot"? (Quite a few). Likewise, how many lower ranked QB's developed into the program, became starters at some point of need or injury, and were the moments of memory in fans minds for incredible games (even if it was only one). There usually is only one chief at a time at the top of the totem pole, and everyone wants to be that chief!
