A serious dilemma

As a fan, I certainly understand all the hand wringing regarding transfers, etc. However, I tend to side with the athlete and want them to do what makes them happy. They are young men who are looking to their own futures and that's a great thing.

However, something has just happened that gives me pause...

First of all, you should know that I'm a Hokie through and through. Bleed orange and maroon, etc. However, my nephew has attended and played football at Penn State for the past 3 years, so I've also been cheering for the Nittany Lions while he's been there. It was a little difficult at first, but it's been very exciting watching him and following the team. My son even got to go to all 3 of their bowl games (Rose, Fiesta, Citrus) with my brother's family.

But my nephew hadn't gotten a lot of playing time (redshirted his first year and then couldn't crack the two deep the next 2 years). The good news is that he's graduating this May, and he decided to put his name in the transfer portal to see if he could get more playing time elsewhere (and get his masters).

No problem so far.

He got interest from several schools, including the University of Colorado, which is out here near where I live. That would've been great! We could go to his games, my son went to CU, etc. But alas, it was not meant to be. Yesterday he announced his transfer plans. He will spend the next 2 years attending and playing football at...

...the University of Virginia.

Ugh. I don't know what to do. Obviously, I love my nephew and want what's best for him. I will definitely be cheering for him personally, but his team? I'm not sure I'll be able to do that. Especially in late November.

Help!!!
