This is how I feel now, though it didn't used to be like that.
I used to love watching bowl games. Heck, I used to love watching Tuesday night MAC games in October. If it was college football, I was interested in it.
Now, I barely tune in if VT isn't playing, and even then it's spotty. I watched most of the Military Bowl, maybe 10 minutes of the Rose Bowl, and part of Clemson's first playoff game. That was it. I didn't even watch the National Championship game. I literally forgot it was on Monday night until I saw posts about it here after it ended.
Part of my disinterest is surely due to the fact that compared to 10-15 years ago, I now have a lot more responsibility, and a lot less free time. And if I'm truly honest with myself, I'm sure some of it is due to the fact that VT is awful now and that has tarnished my ability to enjoy football to some extent. But I think a large part of it is simply due to the fact that there are just too many bowl games now, and they're all just a big corporate cash grab. It just seems forced, fake, and completely unexciting. And finally, part of it is surely due to the fact that I'm just turning into a grumpy old guy.
