I borrowed a copy of Mario Puzo’s godfather novel from my parents house over Christmas. It’s amazing how closely the movie follows the book, word-for-word in many places. If you haven’t read it, pick up a copy. There’s a lot more in there about Johnny Fontane and a fuller explanation of some of the scenes and characters.
