I guess it depends - the announcers from ESPN were laying on the
hyperbole but they were doing that at the beginning of the game too - one going so far as picking VT to win the ACC regular season outright.
But even with this being a relatively down year for ND, the win looked very much the way it should if we are indeed a top-10 team. ND led by 2 one-time, after their first basket of the game. Sure, they put together 2 runs to cut the lead to manageable numbers but never retook the lead and VT was able to respond with runs of their own each time and ended up winning by a sizable margin. If we come out today and say that the win means VT is #1 in the country and a lock to unseat Duke, UNC, or UVA, then yes, it's overrated. If you say that it's encouraging to see VT look very much the same as they did in their non-conference schedule but against ACC caliber competition, then that sounds about right.
