Alot of tackling is based on player strength. You won't tackle well if you

are physically too weak to make the tackle. Hilgart just hasn't done the job needed to train players at a Division I level. He emphasizes speed and agility that are needed for a spread offense, while sacrificing strength, like in the PAC10 region, which is where he trained. There's a reason the PAC10 hasn't won an ncaa championship in like 15 years? It might be adequate if he was a top strength coach but he's not. Just out of curiosity, I reviewed all the teams he was a strength coordinator at before and after he arrived, most of which were borderline teams, and there was no difference in team performance after he arrived, and sometimes team performance was worse. He was a mediocre strength coach in a conference or region that produces mediocre teams.

If you sacrifice strength, you will see all the issues with tackling you are seeing now. Notice all the opposing players running through and breaking numerous arm tackles? I believe I posted about halfway through the season that there were some serious team strength issues, so this should be nothing new to you.
