As for each on your list....

Maybe before I even start to respond... the pregame radio interview with Fuente was sort of telling... not about coaches, but team chemistry and culture... they had to weed out some players who weren't all in for VT. Is that process completely over? I'm not sure it is, but it needs to be solved shortly, before it affects coaches' careers.

A. OC - I'm not overly impressed. I liked Loeffler, but he was stuck in a no-win situation, during a difficult time. Cornelson has not brought that Memphis offense to VT, but losing Evans and then JJ, along with some other players bolting early, like Isaiah Ford hasn't helped. Injuries to other key players like Nijman, and the list goes on. One and done starting QBs is very hard on an OC, and Loeffler had to deal with that more often than not, when he was at VT. I'm not sure if Willis or Jackson or some other QB will be starting next season for the Hokies, but at least the QB situation is better than it has been. It seems like VT has options at QB, but the OC needs RBs, TEs, and other offensive weapons, and needs players to execute the offense at a high level, and pressing so many first year starters in every year only slows the process down in developing a group of seasoned and mature players.

B. S&C coach seems to be turning the guys into gym rats, more than playing tough, and I'm especially thinking about tackling. Maybe it isn't the S&C coach's job to teach effective tackling techniques, but if not, who does? Maybe that coach could be on the hot seat.

C. DB coach was not given an easy task... and maybe more like an impossible task, at least to field a group of DBs that play at the level the former CBs have over the past 10 to 20 years. He won't be fired after one season for what we saw on the field.

D. All of the above.... I would be careful wishing for these coaching changes, in large part because of youth and attrition they had to deal with. I wouldn't be terribly disappointed if they all (A, B and C) found new jobs this offseason, but stability is worth something, especially when developing a new team culture.

E. None of the above.... I suspect there won't be any coaching changes based on how this past season played out, but another season like this one there may be bigger issues than position coaches.

F. Others... I'm just not in a head hunting mood right now, but everyone, players and coaches all need to know this season cannot be the new standard at VT. Again... attrition, especially those players who bolted early for the NFL last year were hard to replace, and left VT in a very compromised situation. It may take another full year of on-the-job-training for our defensive players to regain that lunch pail quality defense we have come to expect at VT. Maybe coaches had to readjust their recruiting focuses to head off another situation where there was no cushion between freshmen and seasoned veterans who could possibly bolt early.

One thing I have learned... discussions on this board probably won't change a thing. Many people have very insightful solutions, but it is the solution Fuente decides upon that matters. He's the one who knows all the complexities and dynamics going on behind the scenes.
