All of the schools came to see Curry and they all knew about Vick. Tommy Reamon made it clear that you couldn't recruit both of them. If you were recruiting Curry don't bother with recruiting Vick. Schools had to make a choice and almost all of them chose Curry. Tech knew they had no shot at Curry so they recruited Vick hard. If Curry would have been interested in Virginia Tech and his high school coaches weren't so aligned with UVA Tech would have chosen to recruit Curry over Vick like everyone else. Things turned out very well for Michael Vick. Reamon insisting Vick redshirt as part of signing him was huge. Mike Smith at Hampton High School was more interested in his own interests when it came to Curry's recruitment. Curry would have been better off playing QB at UVA. I think going to UNC was a mistake for him. He was overrated as a basketball player and he should have concentrated on football all the way.
