The Valley District in the early to late 60’s was comprised of:
Albemarle
Waynesboro
R.E. Lee of Staunton
Harrisonburg
Lexington
Buena Vista
Natural Bridge
Charle Manuel (former professional baseball player and manager of the Philadelphia Phillies) played for Buena Vista - roughest place to place in the district.
Lee High was pretty good too.
I played at Albemarle. We usually were in the top 3. It was the old 1B classification.
Lane High in Charlottesville played in the Central District which was mostly Richmond schools. That District was classified 1A.
That’s a long time ago!
