He got dismissed suddenly and the rumor mill went crazy with lots of bad rumors/insinuations about what happened for him to be dismissed. It is "interesting" as kingofcassell said that neither he or his reps/friends etc.. have commented on this in one way or another (i.e. leaking his side of the story) in order to get in front of the PR of this. Even if he has not intent of playing professionally (Europe or wherever) the repercussions of the rumor mill story that is out there vs. "his" version could be very destructive to his future employment options. Obviously he and his team of advisors/family have a plan but it is an "interesting" one since the track they are taking (radio silent) is quite different than how the vast majority of these things seem to unfold.
