What was the hurry to be the first to hire a D1AA coach, ok Memphis is a 1A lite. Understand the Beamer hire in ‘86 with the intent to rebuild a Program in shambles on probation, but we were established 3 years ago, so should have hired someone who had been on the big stage before, like Bronco. Heck, we had identity pre Beamer with a badass Defense (but no O). Bud would have done fine as HC and kept the OC we had in Franks last year. We all thought Fuente was going to bring instant offense to Lane, but to the contrary - we have no indentity, runslow plays, and can’t run. I thought we would be a quick strike offense like UCF. Clearly way too big a stage for Fuente and Brad. This years demise started on our last offensive possession vs ODU where we tried to get cute and throw a bomb (int) when we were running down their throat and in line to score to go up 2 scores and get the ball first in the 2nd half. Instead we call timeouts to extend their drive and they scored before half, and the rest is history. We win and Trevon Hill would still be on the D line. It’s time for a Bud (Foster) HC and more recruits in the 757; best QBs have been both Vick’s and Tyrod. And arguably best defensive players have been D Hall, Vince Hall and Adibi..,and of course Bruce Smith.
