These players have never held down a job and managed a full set of bills. Virtually all of them are not married and don't have the maturity that being married brings to you. I know there are lazy kids on EVERY team but I think the VT players are working their asses off and I think they try their best. Yes they do look atrocious on the field most of the time this season. But they are kids. They are sons, grandsons, brothers, students, friends and they are football players. They are normal human beings. The kids are fine. All of these kids flying around all over the place over pursuing, missing a tackle they clearly should have made, take a terrible angle, losing leverage, making a false step (yes one false step can kill you in an game see how Alabama beat Georgia last year) and the pure inexperience. Hey we thought we had a good to better than good Offensive Line. The OLs are trying their hardest. VT has never had good OL recruiting-Never. Please don't point out the gems we have found. Overall we don't recruit OL well at all. That is the coaches fault. They get paid a ton and they are brilliant football minds and they are also doing something wrong. Bud Foster recruited D'Shaun Hand and hand went on record as saying Bud Foster was his favorite recruiter. OK-somebody failed. Hand should have gone to VT. He would have played immediately and still gotten drafted. We had him and someone let him slip away. Ricky Slade-Wanted to got to VT his whole life and PSU comes in and swoops him away. Why in the world is that happening? If I am not mistaken, Foster was his recruiter too. Nnadi, Sweat and Jonathan Allen are explainable but we had had some in the bag and we got out recruited. Someone worked harder and was better than VT at getting the kid. Franklin might not be the best Xs and Os coach but he sure as hell knows what he is doing and he is kicking our complete ass in recruiting.
