Nebraska is 2-6 with a budget 1/3 bigger than VT's, an 80k seat stadium
history, tradition, national championships, etc. etc. VT is 4-3 and still in bowl contention.
VT is a typical large state U with an athletic budget that is still (hopefully) in the top 50 and a stadium that wouldn't rank in the top ten in the SEC. Our biggest assets to date have been Beamer's improbable run, loyal fans, and fertile recruiting grounds. In short, we don't have a lot of advantages, and a lot of bigger programs have had bad, bowl-less streaks in the last decade.
Now we figure out what kind of fans we really are. Are we fans of the program, in good times or bad, or are we only fans of winning? I'm actually both, fwiw. [Post edited by lawhokie at 10/28/2018 10:01PM]
