Coach Fu seemed like a good hire at the time, however, lets look at some facts:

1) He was handed a bird nest on the ground. Really great facilities, great fan base and one of the best defensive coaches in the nation.
2) Despite all the bad mouthing of Coach FB in his last few years, he was still a better recruiter than Coach FU. Now most of Beamer's guys are gone. Recruiting has fallen off...the 757 area has been virtually picked clean of the top talent by out of state schools. Coach FU gets a C-, if that. Let's face it...this team, made up of his players, is barely average, if that.
3) Coach Fu was supposed to bring a great offense to he table...it's not up-tempo and since his emphasis has been on offense when recruiting, the defensive talent has taken a beating.
When was the last time that we had to switch an offensive guy to defense....in Beamer's time it was usually the other way around. This like putting lipstick on a pig. It's still ugly.
4) Coach FU is not a good coach. Several times I have questioned his time management at the end of the half. It has taken him over 1/2 the season to figure out that you put the QB under center when you are on the 1-yard line. Why do we need a RPO play at that position on the field. Good grief!
5) Finally, VT has had its best success with duel threat QBs. Apparently, they don't fit into Coach Fu's system. HH may not be the next MV, but he hasn't received any reps, e.g., with 6:24 left in the game with the game out of reach, why risk # 5 with an injury...let HH get some reps? #5 is not a bad QB, but he's not a great QB either. And neither is JJ.

I have been watching VT football longer than most...I've seen some really bad teams...this team is worse than any I have seen in the Beamer era, except maybe 1987...maybe 1988, and worse than some teams before that.

Everyone here knows that we should have lost to UNC...should be 3-4going into some tough competition.

I concluded after the ODU debacle that we had a nice 25 year run. Soon Bud and Wiles will be gone. Not a pretty thought.

Glad I was alive to see the days that took us out of the back waters of Football...but those days are over.
