I like Coach Justin Fuente, but

he allowed the team to develop Performance Anxiety. It seemed like VT won the first half but managed to basically tie because of a ton of silly mistakes like the false starts. That’s PA, or lack of correct muscle memory?

CJF also seems like he is still learning how to coach. Which I don’t understand.

While I do understand that VT has a young team right now, at the same time, it seems that there are so many management-related mistakes.

Poorly timed or executed trick plays, indecisiveness when it came to the 2-pt conversion attempt, repeatedly interchanging HH for Willis v Duke (huh?), poorly executing an onside kick (it did not look the same compared to Clemson or Ala when they do it), multiple 45-50 yd FG tries which cause loss of field position, etc.

I think ALL or almost all of those decisions work with an older, experienced team, but not with this current, young, inexperienced team. VT has some great players right now, but they come with a ton of mental mistakes. I guess all these mistakes provide experience to the players for next year, when these Hokies will be that much older, and even better.

The most frustrating of all of this to me, though, is that ND is ALWAYS overrated as they are now. Had VT won, they would have beaten a team in the 10’s with a ranking of 6. Once Syracuse or Pittsburg beats them, it won’t reflect well on VT. ND will NOT win all of their remaining games. At least VT will continue to get better.
