Bonehead move. Dabo's eyes focused too much on Saban

I have a strong suspicion that if Jalen Hurts was still the Tide's QB, Kelly Bryant would still be Clemson's.

Dabo never stops comparing his program to Bama.

This was a dumb move for several reasons. Let's premise this by saying we all assume Lawrence is in fact the superior QB.

1) Lawrence has 3 more years to make a name for himself. He's not going anywhere, so you risk nothing by continuing to rotate him in as the backup.

2) You don't NEED Lawrence to get to the college football playoff. The ACC is awful. FSU is in the tank, and aTm is behind you. Kelly Bryant is more than capable of getting you there as the official "starter" while splitting time with the kid.

3) You KEEP YOUR DEPTH. If Bryant goes down, you have Lawrence, great position to be in. Now you are one injury away from the playoff going from a sure thing, to "keep your fingers crossed".

4) You KEEP YOUR INTEGRITY. There is no reason to destroy Kelly Bryant's career. No reason at all. Bryant is a great senior quarterback. If he couldn't play that's different. However, he can win you a bunch a games this year, and this is NOT the pros. There are some ethics involved here. Yes, "best guy should play" should be tempered with judgement. You let a guy work in your system all these years, he delivers, can still deliver, and you trash his stellar collegiate experience, and possibly pro prospects for some slightly higher stats. Sorry Dabo, that's SHITTY. The kid can play. You may also have just sent Lawrence packing to the NFL a year sooner.

5) This was all unnecessary. It didn't have to happen for everyone to get everything they want/need. A) Bryant can continue to play and finish his career at Clemson. B) Lawrence can continue to get early work, and come off the bench as necessary in tough games. C) Clemson has the best backup QB situation in college football.

Dabo lost his mind in this decision.
